Constant Sensor Connected Notifications

Hello - Just got a bike and my edge 830 keeps notifying me that the SRAM etap shifters are connected. Have had to turn off all notifications, but wondering has anyone had this issue previously, and found the solution. No problems with all other sensors, and have checked battery, etc.

  • Hi thanks for your feedback, I understand your frustration.

Can you let us know what other sensors are in use that you're experiencing an error with?

I would suggest simply powering the Edge device on while no sensors are present/nearby or actively being used. Most sensors do not broadcast a signal and would not be detected when not in use. This should allow you to access the Settings > Sensors menu and un-pair or disable sensors that are having errors (before restarting & re-pairing the sensors).

A fix is available in the currently available beta updates, these will become public releases in the near future and as long as you sync your device they will be received automatically.

For the fastest support, please contact Garmin support for your region: https://support.garmin.com

  • A fix is available in the current beta for Edge x40, version 27.09 and newer.
Enrolling in and Learning About Garmin Beta Software Program

This update will reach public release in the near future, continue syncing your device and it will be downloaded automatically.

  • this appears to do the trick. thank you!

  • Hi I have the issue where a 'new power meter found" notification won't go away what ever I press. It means I cant navigate around my Garmin 540

How do I install the update and remove sensors?

  • If you're getting very persistent new sensor found messages your sensor is likely powered on and nearby - I'd recommend first shutting the Edge down and then moving out of the sensor's range, or being sure the nearby (power meter) sensor is disabled.

To remove a sensor on the Edge 540: Menu > Sensors > select a sensor > Remove
This update is currently in beta, you can find info about enrolling in the beta program above.

  • I am having this issue with my 540. It keeps saying that a new power sensor is found and it is trying to switch from 54842 to...the same number. I cannot seem to clear the notification. I have tried the check and the x, neither works.

  • I am having the same issue. My software is up to date and I signed up for the Beta program but nothing has helped so far.

  • Updated to version 27.13 (Edge 840), and now there’s a constant notification to connect to other powermeter sensors. Reinstalling doesn’t help. The only solution is to delete all sensors and leave just one.

This is a disaster—what have you done??? Fix this urgently!

  • I, too, still have this on 27.13 and it's infuriating. In my case it's offering to switch from my Polar heart rate strap to optical HRM as transmitted by my watch, not that anybody would want to make a precision downgrade like that.

Had to pause my ride for 10 minutes to deal with it. This is not why I bought such an expensive bike computer!

Can I just turn this feature off? I know quite well how to manage my sensors, thank you...
