Climb Pro no longer detecting climbs

Has anyone else had any issues with Climb Pro on their 540 no longer detecting climbs?  Mine no longer detects climbs either in free mode or when following routes.

I bought the unit new in Aug of this year (2023), and out of the box it detected climbs no problem.  Even after setting up my activity profiles.

Since the beginning of Sep it no longer detects climbs, not anywhere, even in spots where it detected climbs in Aug.

I've checked that all of my activity profiles have climb detection turned on for all climbs.

The only thing I can think of is that a firmware update has caused this...?  However, when I go back and check my activities, it doesn't seem to align perfectly with where I updated firmware from 9.29 (what it came with when I bought it) to when18.23 or 18.25.  Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • I encounter a similar problem, I would even say 2 problems with climbpro.

    The route is 350km

You can also see the problem in the photo that I took from the climbs page, you can only see 4 climbs at the very end of the route, certainly the long climb was done over hundreds of kilometers but I can assure you that on this long climb, there were many climbs that should have been posted by climbpro and also the bumps just after the long climb.
To put it simply, climbpro was only ever displayed on the first 300 kilometers, while my brother-in-law equipped with the Karoo2 displayed all the climbs we encountered, even the smallest.
I specify that the settings of the 1040 are set to display all climbs

Also, climbpro no longer wants to display with the map, for a while, I saw climbro with a map, and a % slope on the color graph, now it is no longer displayed at all.

If anyone has an idea I'm interested

  • This is a well known issue in the Garmin community. If you have modified Maps in any way you will lose the ability for Climb Pro to work without a route/course being loaded and started.

To fix this, you must remove all your maps using Garmin Express on your Garmin unit then sync.
Restart the unit and then add the maps you want back - this will take a while to load back onto your unit
Once finished, sync again, then disconnect the unit from your computer using Remove Device (Mac users remember to right click and disconnect the unit properly)
The unit then will attempt to restart but will be stuck. You must perform a hard reset by pressing the power button for up to 30 seconds or until it reboots by itself.

This  should fix the problem. It fixed it for me.
There is a German user on youtube who also walks through the steps to get Climb Pro working again.

    Hope this helps!
