How can i deactivate the virtual partner?

The feature is useless.

  • It‘s not possible.

  • I hate to tell you, but its one of the better features and I use it every day as a valuable part of my training and also on my long distance events..

Basically, the chances are you do not have a clue how to use it, even though there is no way to disable it, there are workarounds that will stop you seeing it so do a search in the forum, but in what way is it useless. Even when I am not using it, it does not affect my riding in anyway such as obscuring details on the map, the data fields and VP data pages can be removed and the black triangle on the map is far to small to hide anything important behind it.

And lastly, why buy a "Training Device" when you do not want the "Features" that you would find on a "Training Device" when Garmin make alternative products.

  • Thanks for the feedback. It‘s good to know that there actually are people using this feature. Nonetheless: please give me an option to turn it off. I bought the device for navigation. It does do that extremely well. Unless the (for some reason larger) marker for the Virtual Partner is close to my own location. Then finding the right turn becomes unnecessarily hard when at speed. This is rather annoying.

  • No it is not hard at all navigating and having to find the right turn regardless of how fast you are going especially when the VP is close to your position or even directly over your position, the VP itself will be following the course itself, so just follow it, the VP is not going to make a wrong turn etc. Plus, the map will zoom in for turns making it easier to see in more detail.

Your creating issues that do not exist. Learn to use the device. The issues are only in your mind.

I've been using Garmin Edges since the old 305 and never had an issue with the VP  because there is non apart from in the 530 as it can get the time ahead/behind wrong but the VP icon is always in the correct place and it's the icon on the map that I go by.

  • As my first response was moderated let me just say this: let me be my own judge of what is only in my mind. Thank you.
