Careful, I'm not aware of a public 9.79, at least in the USA. The most recent public version is 9.75, which is what I have.

My 530 is spot on like it has always been, so it's not the software/firmware. Sorry for your troubles, but it is with your particular unit.

No, I have the latest regular release, 9.75. I hope they never update again, everything on mine works great.

download the firmare for your device

Download 1030 Plus - 6.79

Download 1030 - 13.79

Download 1030 Bontrager - 13.79

Download 830 - 9.79

Download 530 - 9.79

make a backup of your device before downgrading

unzip the downloaded file and read the "Read me.txt" file

To backdate:
1. Find the 'SystemBackdate_X.XX' folder and copy the "GUPDATE.GCD" file to the Garmin folder of your device.
2. Disconnect and install when prompted. Your device will begin the backdate process. Backdating software will revert your watch to factory default.

In the 9.79 firmware zip file there are the 9.79 BETA firmware AND the 9.75 stable firmware which is supposed to use to backdate
