Edge 530- Average speed and activity timer is off.

The average speed on my brand new edge 530 is showing at least 5kph higher than in reality.

I also noticed that the speed is correct during the activity but the duration seems to be off. Strava trims the file to put in a realistic average speed though so i assume the correct data is there but just sometime is off.

I assume there is an easy fix? All help appreciated.

File here (i think)

Garmin Connect

  • The time metrics in your connect activity file indicate that auto pause was used during the ride, so the average speed (27km/h) is based on your moving time.

Elapsed time is the time between pressing start and stop and isn’t used for the average speed calculation, which would be about 22.2km/h.

If you want the true average, turn off auto pause but you can retrieve the moving average from Connect afterwards.
