It seems like Climbpro 2.0 is just mapping data according to here, will Garmin give older devices the feature eventually? Will the 530 and other 30 series devices get any more software updates? Even the 1030 plus isn't super old.

Connection to the phone is basic feature of Edge units to use functionalities like LiveTracking or synchronisation of activities, routes, segments, etc. If you don't use them it doesn't mean that others…

I do have the dropouts, but stopped to care about it. Annoying, but since they are only missing seconds, it's ok.
I think that there are enough other features, big one being USBC and better phone setup abilities.

I know it also from a Garmin Edge team member too, if You need this new Climb thing, buy the 540/840/1040, the x30 series wont get any new features from the x40 series. 1000%
or you should find someone who can make the 540 firmware work on the 530 as it seems to me that the hardware is the same...
