Macbook not recognizing 530

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2017)

MacOS Monterey Version 12.3.1

Garmin Express Version 7.12.3.0

Garmin Express shows Edge 530 GPS (which was previously connected) "Not connected"

Edge is plugged in via cable and cable is working because the Edge is charging.

Garmin Express says "You have Items Ready to Install"

Your Queue / Synced Jan 4, 20022

Click on Install All.

Message is "Plug in your Device / plug in Edge 530 / searching" / it just keeps searching

Check on Finder, Finder does not show the Garmin 530.

I removed and reinstalled Garmin Express.

What else to try? What happens if you reset Garmin Edge 530? Probably lose all custom screens, locations?

About the cable you use, some cables only have charging pins connected, but not data pins.

If this is original Garmin cable, it would have data lines connected. If it's third party, it might not.

This was exactly right, thanks. The cable looked the same to me. But I found the box from the Garmin 830 we have on my wife's bike, and that still had a new cable in it. I took that that cable out of the box and hooked up the 530 with that instead, and all was fixed immediately.

I needed to use an original Garmin cable. In my case, since my wife has the 830 for her bike and that cable was still in the box, I used that. Computer then recognized the watch right away.

Click on the apple logo in the menu bar -> about this mac-> system profiler. Go to USB. If you see a composite device. Click on it to see if it has the name Garmin. Then your Garmin is found. For me, it can take sometimes a few minutes before the Garmin shows up.
