I understand one of the competitors does predict where you are going to climb.  How well it works, I wouldn't know.

I'd just be happy with Garmin sorting out the quirks.  I regularly find it fails to detect some fairly significant climbs.  Also the "grade remaining" is often very much an underestimate.  It will say something like 3%, but you then find the rest of climb is actually 6%.

ClimbPro will also work if you use the navigation feature to navigate to a location/Address/POI

You can adjust the sensitivity of the reported climbs.

Activity Profiles> [Profile Name]> Data Screens> ClimbPro> Climb Detection

To clarify, it sometimes misses sizeable hills but does detect smaller ones.  It isn't even consistent. One of my regular routes from home is a 8km-long climb with a short descent in the middle.  Sometimes it shows it as one long climb; sometimes it splits it into two at the dip.

well - I will find out in a few hours - headed to a big gravel ride - so I will either be really annoyed or see how it works - :-)

ClimbPro is only as good as the underlying data.

If you have ridden a course before and it did not find climbs you think it should and are going to ride it again then try the following. If you still have the activity file on the Edge then use the build a course from activity on the Edge. This will build the course using the elevation data in the file. Then ride the course again.

You can do the above and just view the climbs the course now has to see how it differs from the climbs found on the original course file if you don't want to ride it.

Is there a threshold to what is considered a "climb"? I saved a course that I ride regularly and so saved as a course. It has several dips and climbs, mostly short or very gradual. But none of them have triggered a climb Pro screen yet. (For reference, the ride is about an hour with total ascent of 310 meters, total descent 317 metres.)
