climbpro feature -

newbie question here - does climb pro only work with pre-loaded rides -

it does not work in real time as you are just out riding correct - ??

if so, am a tad disappointed - I mean, I guess when I think about it, it makes sense that it can not know where you are going to ride to - but still - :-)

  • thank you - I guess when I really thought about it that makes sense -

  • You can always display the elevation map with additional fields showing the grade and any ascent or descent totals.

  • thanks - I wondered about that - can you show 2 additional fields like the Climbpro pop up ?

i don't have the computer with me right this moment - but I suspect that is the case - thank you

  • Yes, you can place 2 data fields on the elevation map.  But when you are not following a loaded course or live segment, the elevation map shows your activity elevation change up to your current location.  It does not show upcoming elevation, which is what it sounds like you're hoping for.  Unless you're following a course or live segment, the unit does not predict your next moves and therefore doesn't predict the future elevation.

  • So will climbpro work on segments and do I need to have segments toggled on for it to work...I usually disable bc it is annoying to me to have every segment pop up on a ride ...FlushedGrinning

  • ClimbPro works independently of segments, do not need them turned on.  ClimbPro also works if you choose not to enable it to pop up on its own.  I have the ClimpPro pop-up toggled off, but can still page to it if I want to see it.

  • Climbpro does not work with live segments.  However, live segments do integrate with the native elevation map screen.  So when you are on a live segment, the elevation map will switch over to showing the elevation profile of entire segment as well as a tracker of your current position and the position of your segment goal.

The live segment feature does get annoying if you have a bunch of them enabled on to your device.

  • so if I am understanding this thread - thank you to all by the way - I just got this computer and want to make sure I use it to its capacity -

so the CP feature only works as a pop up to its fullest on a preloaded course, where it shows where you are on the climb and how much you have left - otherwise, it is similar to the elevation profile data screen where it might show where you are and the grade - but not time remaining and all that - is this correct - ? - I turned of segments years ago, so I am not too versed in how they work in real time -

  • Kind of.  Climb Pro will only be present when you are following a course.  If you are recording an activity but NOT following a course, the Climb Pro screen will not even be available.  Elevation profile is a separate and independent screen from Climb Pro and will always be available if you have it enabled.  But it will change what it shows depending on if you are on a live segment or not.
