Garmin HR monitor not Connecting to Edge530

I have had my unit for nearly 10 months and only very recently has been playing with not connecting to the Edge unit. I have removed the sensor few times and reconnected again with no luck. I know it's not the HR monitor (I have Edge530 Bundle) as it connects up with my Wahoo kickr no issue and reads fine. Please help.

Ali Tajvar Do you have any other sensors connected to your 530?

I would recommend swapping the battery out in your HR monitor, as well as checking for any available updates for your Edge using Garmin Express.

Also, if you could provide a public link to an activity where your HRM has dropped out, that would be helpful.

Hi Blake, Yes. Quarq power meter, and Garmin speed sensor. Battery I replaced about a month ago after the first time started playing up. Again everytime doesn't connect to Edge unit I can see the actual HR is working on the connection to my Apple TV and wahoo Kickr unit. Edge unit is up to date as I only connect it to my PC to charge it so any updates are done automatically.

Below is couple examples. First one I could not get it to connect despite re-pairing it and turning the device on/off too.

If the other sensors are not dropping out while paired to your Edge, then the HRM would be the culprit. At this point with the troubleshooting you've done, we would need you to visit support.garmin.com for assistance from your local team.

Definitely not the HR monitor as it connects with my phone, Wahoo kickr without disconnecting or dropping out during the ride. Finding it very frustrating

Yes, me too! It's totally flaky. I can connect my HRM to Strava on my iPhone, but I cannot get it to pair with the Edge 530

Is your HRM connected to your Garmin via ANT+ or Bluetooth? Have you tried the other connection method to the one you are having issues with? This is basic information that is required to start troubleshooting.

Remember if you use Bluetooth that there are a limited number of connections. If you have inadvertently paired it to too many devices other devices will not be able to connect. If you use Bluetooth make sure every other device with Bluetooth is turned off so they cannot grab the connections before your Garmin.

ANT+ is generally the best choice for pairing fitness sensors.

How do you know how it’s connected? I’m pretty sure it’s blu-tooth

Go to the sensors menu. Look at the sensor details. It will tell you if it is paired via ANT+ or Bluetooth.
