GPS not accurate, position is a few hundred yards off

For the last couple of weeks (possibly since software upgrade) when I follow my routes, my position is not accurate on the map and consequently the turn by turn navigation is useless.

Any thoughts anyone?  I am using the Garmin installed maps.

  • This is why i asked You to share a FIT file with us. Because it could be 2 problems:

#1: the GPS position has offset or any positioning problem

#2: the low quality basemap is not accurate but that is a low quality basemap and not a high quality cycle or topomap. If it is the situation then pls use a better map on 530, the basemap is "good for nothing" Slight smile

  • The basemap has a purpose: it makes drawing faster at low zoom levels and it provides some context for areas where there isn't a detailed map.

Using the basemap the way the OP appears to be doing is misusing the tool.

The 530 cones with reasonable maps for the device's home region. We don't know why the OP is using the basemap. Maybe, he's out if the home region or he wants less detail.
