GC version of fitness and freshness?

Hi folks

I am considering dropping strava subscription to go to basic. I would loose the fitness and freshness chart and wondered what the garmin equivalent would be, as it's not obvious to me.

I only cycle and use a power meter for each ride.

Thanks

  • Thanks again. Do you know if the basic engine and calculations are the same as Strava ? I'm not sure if there is an industry standard or multiple ways of the same thing. I also like the explanations on elevate. load of notes / info pop ups to try to make sense of it all. That gives it the edge over elevate for me.

i downloaded golden cheetah but when i came to upload / synch my data history it didn't seem like a simple press of a button. When i googled it there was a reference to "code" so i stepped away from it. I have club pals who love it though (who are also a whizz with computers).

For sure, there are ways of getting the analysis without paying for strava though. And there are plenty of other route builders, so i'm starting to question its value to me.

  • Golden Cheetah can do everything but it is not particularly user friendly in working out how to customise it for your use.  I have looed at it and dropped it pretty quickly as I couldn't be bothered to work it out when there are tools out there which do what I want with no fiddling necessary.

The Strava FF engine looks to be the same as the Elevate one but note that the calculations include variables like TSS which Strava hasn't licenced from Training Peaks so they use a slightly different calculation to get a number which is similar so there are some small differences.  The overall shape of the FF chart is pretty much the same in the end.
