Lap by Position - Mark and Lap

I'm interested in using the Lap by Location feature.  By reading the manual, I understand how the "Lap Press Only" and the "Start and Lap" options should work.  I don't understand how the "Mark and Lap" option works.  What does "trigger lap counter at a specific GPS location marked before the ride..." mean?

Thanks

  • i just checked my edge and I cant find any option to remove marked lap points.

  • We may have been talking past each other.  I was talking about saved locations/waypoints which, I think, are different than the Mark and Lap Auto Lap feature.  I tried this Auto Lap feature a while back and I remember it worked.  I marked a spot down the road a bit from the start of my ride and at the end of the ride I had the start & marked locations in the lap list in Garmin Connect.  That's the only time I messed with it.  I didn't find that marked location in my Locations list, so I assume that the marked Auto Lap location is deleted by the system once the ride is stopped (& saved/discarded).  The documentation is certainly lacking, so I don't know for sure.

  • Hi&thanks - this wraps it up nicely. The GPS Lap marks seem to be deleted after the workout/ride. Which I find a bit of a pity as I hoped to habe a lap marked each time I come across a certain point like a start of my favorite climb... and even after weeks when coming back to the same ride the GPS mark would be triggered... but this does not seem to be the case.

  • You're right.  Your description would be much more useful and seemingly easier to setup before hand.
