Sending course from Garmin Connect to Edge 530 while activity in progress

I've never had any luck sending course from Garmin Connect (on iPhone XR) to Edge 530 while on the road. When you send a course you need to sync the device, but it never works for me while activity is in progress. It either never finishes syncing or throws an error that the device is busy... Does anyone know a way around this?

  • Hi everybody, that described solution from StianKelton works! Egde 530 + Android 10 phone.

After "download complete" is shown you really have to OFF and ON again the Egde. Sleep is not sufficient. Paused activity will be not discarded/saved and can be resumed  after OFF/ON the device.

  • It has been 2 years since this issue. Why there is still no solution from garmin? I was very disapointed when I encountered this.
Anyway... Hotspot workaround works best IMO.
One quickfix from garmin could be atleast some kind of setup workflow when activity is paused. (enables when activity paused)
If Wifi is enabled only when activity is paused, could be cool to enable some kind of screen with option to soft reload courses and downloads which is synced by wifi.
A setup screen with button "RELOAD items" could be better than doing: sleep -> wakeup -> wait for download -> turn off -> wait -> turn on.

  • Does not work for me on the 1030 plus. Keep getting "download error"...

  • Used to work fine for me until the widget (or no other CIQ Widget for that matter) is visible on my Edge 530 running 9.40. Tried deleting and reinstalling, no joy. Am I missing something obvious or am I the only one with that problem?!
