Sending course from Garmin Connect to Edge 530 while activity in progress

I've never had any luck sending course from Garmin Connect (on iPhone XR) to Edge 530 while on the road. When you send a course you need to sync the device, but it never works for me while activity is in progress. It either never finishes syncing or throws an error that the device is busy... Does anyone know a way around this?

as far as i know, syncing with a device during a running activity is not possible. you have to end it in order to be able to push / pull anything to / from the device.

Thanks. A bit annoying, but not the end of the world, just means activity will split in two when this happens. It would also be helpful if Garmin gave a more meaningful error message when trying to sync during activity...

Try the GRouteLoader CIQ widget (not the application) . It's takes a little more work but it'll do just that as well as downloading from other sources. Unlike CIQ Applications; widgets can be run while an activity is in progress. I use it loads on my 1030

Ran into the exact same problem yesterday: Cycled into a rain front during a long structured workout so we made a quick coffee stop, planned a diversion on komoot, uploaded it to my friends Wahoo Roam and... and... and... and I ended up navigating via my Fenix 5 which felt incredible stupid.

Will try the widget idea, that might be a savior. Thanks for pointing it out.

Did you try the widget and did it work? I used to have a Wahoo and loved the connectivity and have been really annoyed by not being able to change routes during an activity using komoot. Does the widget help?

thx for the hint!

Sad it's not working out of the box, I'd consider this a rather standard use case... Changing my mind when out cycling, looking for a different route/course and still continuing my activity...

@garmin what do you think? ;)

Hi! Is there any instructions how to use the widget (I never used them so I'm kind of newbie in this matter)? I can only find for the app and that's not helping
