When you use the navigate function to follow a course, Strava segments do not work.
Only Garmin Segments work in parallel to navigation.
Strave segments work when navigation is off. They also work if you…
Not quite true. Strava segments will work when following a course provided that the course was created on Strava and loaded to the Edge using the Strava Route app.
It's a real shame it's 2020 and they haven't been able to get a key feature working - follow a route AND display segments.
The only way it currently works is if you use Strava Routes to load…
Honestly: Live segments (Garmin or Strava) are broken beyond repair on Edge units. They might occasionally work but most of the time they don't. I wonder whether Garmin/Strava are aware of it - I cancelled my Summit/Subscription to Strava because of this and would've probably kept it if I was still using a Wahoo computer.
I don't understand why Garmin is overthinking the issue by trying to bake segments into routes. On my Bolt, a segment used to trigger anytime I did ride over the starting point, so if the route didn't follow along the segment I do get a "Segment Started" warning and an "Off Segment" warning shortly afterwards. No big deal.
No problems with 5.68FW, segments works even during navigation now.
Thought it was already the case since 5.30
At least with 5.50 it didn't work for me ...
Even if there are multiple segments on a route? I always have to manually stop the segment after completing it.
