GPS accuracy: less accurante than 920xt?

Hi,

I did my first ride this morning with my new Edge 530.

I also used my Forerunner 920xt.

After, on Garmin Connect, I have checked both stats.

One thing that stood out. When I look at the map, my 920xt stayed more on the road and more in straight line.

My Edge 530 had more deviation and sometimes, it would show me that I crossed over the other side of the street...

I would have expected my Edge 530 to be at least as good as my 920xt.

Is it normal?

Can I do something to improve it?

I live in Montreal, Canada. I don't ride in streets with very tall building. Both devices have GPS+Glonass activated.

I have tried GPS + Galileo and no improvement.

My Forerunner 920xt is still better.

Updating the satellite orbit ephemeris data will speed up initial acquisition but I don't think it actually improves the accuracy of the ongoing track.

I have been doing some testing and it seems to be smoothing & predicting the gps point, this only is seen when taking corners at higher speed or aggressive cornering, in this example I would have to have off the edge of the hill to get those locations, the greater the speed the greater smoothing

Sorry not had a chance, work and bad weather, just been training inside, hopefully will get a chance soon. just bought a Varia Radar I want to try it out with the 530.

How do you proceed to put on the same map multiple GPS data to compare?

The Picture is of a strava API page that I have created, I did 6 laps of a hill climb 3.5km loop, the section your seeing is the decent http://strava.lopeys.com/ you will have to authorise(only lasts 6hrs) and then select the activity and click on the view report (default is velocity)

With the latest software update available for 530 - has the GPS accuracy got better?

So many compliant about GPS in 530... (

I have tried every GPS combination and still not good.

I will contact Garmin.

BETTRAVE77 I finally got to try it after re-setting the gps or whatever I was told to do, definitely better, only the 1 ride at the moment, but I will get more time soon, for me trees seem to be a problem, but it is better now, but need more rides to be sure.

Mine doesn't have an "epo.bin" file in that folder, mine has "cpe.bin" and "006B310700.GCD"
I might have to ring support and ask them, mine is now on GPS software 2.60 and it's no better, live segments drop out all the time. I think mine must be worse than most people's otherwise there would be HEAPS of people complaining as mine is unusable for Strava live segments.
