Strava Live Segments is worse with the latest software update. Why Garmin, WHY?

I had started a thread on my frustrations with Strava Live Segments, mostly with keeping a target (PR, KOM etc).

The new features of "last" or "recent best" are useless. All anybody wants is to set a target, and have it not change. My 530 changes the targets randomly.

A way around this was to set a "goal" on Strava, which would then show as the target. But since the latest software update, my 530 defaulted to picking random targets, no longer defaults to my goal, and changes with every ride. My "Goal" appears on the screen for a few seconds, then disappears and is replaced with a target that I could not care less about and don't want to use.

Why can't Garmin just fix this?

My FR935 has never had this problem, but looking at my watch while sprinting is not feasible.

Why did the latest software update make this worse than it already was?

This is incredibly frustrating.

PLEASE fix this Garmin.

I've looked at this issue and the good news is that Garmin have told me they are working on a fix for it.

The issue is caused by the addition of the new VP types. Garmin up until now has used the order provided by Strava. This gave the goal first. When Strava added the new VP types "recent best" and "Last" they put these ahead of the "goal". As Garmin is just accepting the order provided by Strava this has changed the behavior on the Edge.

The watches do not currently support these new VP types, which is why things have not change on your FR935.

I appreciate the explanation, but it is ridiculous that after this many months & software updates that the issue hasn't been fixed. The 530 is the best Edge device that I have owned, but the Live Segment debacle is a huge inconvenience, and should have been fixed by now.

It is actually worse with the latest update. Inexcusable.

I have found that the new inaccurate GPS chip often makes the 530 useless for Strava live segments as the time behind or ahead jumps around wildly. I have gone back to using my 520 for training efforts using live segments.

Yes I have updated to 2.42, from many reports online the issue is the new Sony GPS chip that consumes low power but is quite inaccurate. Garmin have been ignoring any comments about the GPS chip in this forum so I can only assume that it is true.

I want to address in this post another problem with Live segments.
When GPS drifts a little bit off the segment it says off segment and terminates interface while Strava allows drifts because segments are not precise and at the end is still a valid segment run but I'm losing my live feedback

The build installed when installing software 4.10 is GPS 2.30, Build 2.41 is a beta release so needs to be manually installed
