I still have a question: Does ClimbPro work with a loaded track, which is in "always show" mode only? (not sure if it is the right term - i am using the german version...)…
No, currently ClimbPro is only active when navigating a saved course.
It is the average grade left to the top of the climb.
It's value is somewhat limited. The color coding of the grade on the profile for the next section has more value.

I want my Edge to show me the Climb Pro features when i follow a known (and saved) path but i do not want to navigate the path with direction instructions.
No, currently ClimbPro is only active when navigating a saved course.
You can disable turn by turn instructions in the course options
However, if you deviate from the course, you will get instructions until you're back on track
That is the virtual partner indicator.
If the virtual partner is not riding the same section of climb that you are viewing it is placed either on the far left or far right hand side of the profile so that you know if it is ahead or behind of you.
