I have an Edge 530 running firmware 3.50. It is my first Garmin unit and I am having a hard time understanding how a few mapping features work.
1. I have the map orientation set to track up in both Mountain and Road profiles. The Edge 530 does not display my track going up but rather it is to the side which makes determining turns difficult as the turn could be up or down. This gets confusing at complicated intersections. I haven't used this in the Mountain profile so for me it is a problem in the Road profile.
2. When I use the Road profile following a Mountain bike ride the Edge will bring up a map view when I stop at a traffic light and tell me I am on the last mountain bike trail I was riding even if I am 30 miles away from that point. I can't figure this out as I have the trailforks map disabled in the Road profile.
3. Do I need to have only one map active in each profile? I have 4 different basemaps available in each profile. I think 3 are Garmin maps and 1 is Trailforks. What happens if more than 1 map is enabled in a profile?
4. The Garmin user manual is absolute garbage in helping the end user know what the various feature of the device actually do. It's fine for instructing how to change the settings but that doesn't help the user know how those settings will affect their experience.
I am finding the maps and related feature to be extremely frustrating on this device. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
