Ride upload issue while connected to WiFI and Bluetooth after updating to SW 3.50

I am also having this issue. It will NOT upload a saved ride via Bluetooth but will via WiFi. I use live track for the wife and it is just making more work for me to manually turn off wifi then do the ride with live track, then get home and disable bluetooth and perform the upload on WiFi. I'm on 3.50, express says up to date.

Any updates with this?

  • I have the same issue with Garmin 530, latest software version 4.10, latest iOS version 12.4, latest Connect app version 4.21

The sync is completely unreliable. It usually fails, sometimes is works as a surprise.

    @Garmin - fix your stuff!

  • Exactly the same with 530. It is unbelievable that Garmin is not able to fix this issue within several months now. And for sure their communication in regard to this issue us very bad.

Same here since 3.5, the only workaround I found is to pair again the 530 with my iPhone XS and then, before every ride, close the app from the background and relaunch it. This works but is frustrating, with previous firmware the Garmin 530 was up and connected also with the app in background!

  • Another user here with sync and ride upload issues.  Neither 3.50 nor 4.10 fixed the problem.  Hoping Garmin will make this a top priority on the next FW release.

Same issues here.  Says it's connected to my phone, but will not sync.  On 4.10.  Here's to hoping this gets fixed fast!  Plenty of friends on Wahoo that don't have this buggy issue.

  • Last week I swapped my Edge 1000 for a 830.

The BT connection with my iPhone 8 and uploading after I finished my ride worked smoothly on the Edge 1000 (with BT and WIFI enabled on the device).

My ride was uploaded before I could put my bike in the garage.

However, nothing but phone connection troubles now with the 830.  I need to open the GC app to be able to detect mobile internet connection and only after having done, my iPhone pairs with the 830.

Uploading my ride after having finished doesn't work ! I need to upload it manually every single time.

This is really an issue Garmin, please fix this !!

Bought a 530 last week to replace my 520. Updated to the latest device firmware/phone app. In short, issue NOT fixed. Wont sync or upload rides reliably. Mostly, I have to delete and re-pair the device to my phone to get it to work. Going back to the 520.

There’s a way round it. Don’t have the phone connected to wifi when uploading as the Garmin gets confused. Turn wifi off for the Garmin too, permanently. I also keep Garmin Connect closed during the ride then open it when finished as an added failsafe. Turn Garmin off when ride complete and uploaded. I hope this helps

This is what I found works for the most-part:

    1. reset the 530

    2. re-pair to the phone. DO NOT configure wifi. Ensure auto-upload is set.

    3. Close Garmin app, cross fingers, take a ride.

    4. Save ride - the upload option isnt available in the ride summary on the device until the Garmin app is open.

    5. Open Garmin app - the ride *should* upload (right now its 2 for 3).

This is a lot of aggravation for a device that should be way more refined. The battery life on my 520 is down to about 2 hours but at least its reliable. Ill use the 520 until it dies and hope the 530 is improved enough for daily use by then.

I keep forgetting to mention: about two weeks ago I took a firmware update and all the upload issues seem to be solved. My 530 connects to my phone without the app being open, rides automagically upload when saved - no matter where I am, and I even have wi-fi configured and it doesnt interfere. Thank you Garmin!
