Edge 530 stuck on startup screen

Bit of a long shot.

I am on a cycling tour in France and am depending on my brand new Edge 530 for navigation.

Unfortunately it crashed/hung today. The soft reset doesn’t works and it is stuck on the start up screen - loading courses, workouts and locations.

I cant find any information on doing a hard reset

Any clues, pointers on how I can get it working for tomorrow?

By soft reset, do you mean pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds?

Can you mount it to a computer. If so delete the contents of the Garmin\NewFiles folder

Force to Mass Storage:

Power the device off
Press and hold the lap button while plugging into usb (with or without factory cable)
Wait 10 seconds and device should go to mass storage

Did this work for anyone? I have the same issue, but neither my laptop nor desktop recognize the device.

Is the USB cable you are using a power+data cable or just a power cable? If the unit starts charging, but does not go into mass storage mode you may want to try a different cable.

This worked for me, had to try twice as i didn't get the timing right the first time (holding power til it went off, plugging cable in and holding lap button)

There was a 3mb .fit file in there, possibly the cause but a LOT of new files. deleted the lot and it started fast as normal.

Holding down the power button amd bottom left button for ten seconds reset the unit. Now I can upload todays ride.
