What Datafield do you use to log temperature from Garmin Tempe?

I've just ordered myself Edge 130 Plus, and I'm aware that for some weird reason Garmin doesn't allow to log temperature using their dedicated temperature sensor which was holding me from ordering myself bike computer for a while.

I've already asked Garmin to add support for Garmin Tempe to Edge devices but doubt it would happen anytime soon.

Anyway, I know there are few datafield  in CIQ which can log temperature and I wonder which is working stable for you? As in another thread I've seen that some make your trip crash which I want to avoid.

  • You likely have a specific reason to ask for an external temperature sensor, but be aware that the Edge 130 Plus already has an internal one. Temperature is logged automatically during a ride, and it's charted out in Garmin Connect. It's also saved when you export an activity to GPX.

  • Thanks! I thought that Edge 130 Plus is only logging temperature which it gets from the forecast but after your response I did more searching and found this thread from Edge 130 so as long as it saves it in FIT that already better than nothing. But having the ability to log temeprature with external sensor is still a better option at least for me as i'd like to get reading of ambient temperature in shade not the one where my bicycle computer sites. As we have pretty hot summers in here and at least my old wired computer can show temperature +10C higher than my Garmin Tempe logging under my backpack sitting in shade.
