Issue
Since updating to 28.34, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive whenever the ambient temperature drops below about 15°C (59°F). On the previous firmware this did not happen.
What happens
-
Touch input stops registering (can’t tap, swipe, or operate any menus).
-
I tried to follow a route I had sent from Apple Maps to the Edge, but I couldn’t interact with the device at all.
-
If I remove the unit and warm it inside my jacket for a few minutes, the touchscreen starts working again—until it cools down, then the problem returns.
Steps to reproduce
-
Use Edge 1050 on firmware 28.34 outdoors when ambient temp is < 15°C.
-
Try to operate the touchscreen (e.g., start a ride or open Navigation).
-
Observe that touches don’t register or are extremely delayed.
-
Warm the device (e.g., inside a jacket) and the touchscreen works again.
Expected behavior
Touchscreen should function normally at these temperatures, as it did on the previous firmware.
Actual behavior
Touchscreen becomes effectively unusable until the device is warmed up.
Request
Please investigate and fix this regression. It’s autumn and temperatures are dropping, which makes the device very hard to use outdoors.
Happy to provide any additional details or run diagnostics if needed. Thank you!
