Garmin Edge 1050 does not appear on Finder menu on Mac Tahoe IOS 26.0

Nothing new....  update New Apple IOS 26 for 2025

When I connect the Garmin Edge to my Mac, it doesn't show up in Finder. However, Garmin Express recognizes it, but I still can't export a file from RWGPS to the Garmin Edge 1050. How long have we been waiting for Garmin's and Apple's updates? I need to use Windows 11 on my PC.

You might need something like OpenMTP, on your Mac. It is free and its only purpose is accessing MTP devices like your Edge 1050

  • There's an alternative to openMTP called Commander that I already had for other purposes. It works to get access to the Edge1050. It isn't free, but works every time. apps.apple.com/.../id1035236694

  • I only needed to use OpenMTP when I had to fix my voice prompts and update startup.txt file with my personal info in case I loose the device.
To send my routes from RWGPS I just send it from the app to "Garmin" and it appears on my device. They have explained it on their site, you may want to read it.

  • You don't need to export RideWithGPS files to the Garmin file system. If you connect your RideWithGPS account to your Garmin Express account, you can install maps on RideWithGPS by pinning them in their app. Then Garmin Express will sync the map to your Garmin. I've been doing it this way for years now.

As others have said, you can also use OpenMTP on your Mac. I have that too and it works just fine.
