No more voice navigation prompts after update to 28.20

I got the update to 28.20 today. Went for a ride afterwards an followed a course. I noticed that the voice navigation prompts that usually play during navigation ("in 300m turn right") are no longer playing on the device. Instead I only get a few beeps when I'm approaching a turning point. I tried all options I could find in the Sound and Navigation menus, but was unable to get the voice prompts back. Is this a known problem? Any fixes? Thanks!

    Yes, installation 28.33 is succesfull. Prompt files where deleted, but after sync, no prompt files...

    How are you syncing the Edge after deleting the Prompts folder contents?

    You will need to sync the Edge with Garmin Express to restore prompts files, these will not come from a wireless sync with the Garmin Connect app. 

    You may also try deleting the contents of the Prompts folder, disconnecting the Edge from the computer and allowing it to restart, then reconnect the Edge and sync with Garmin Express (after the Edge has rebooted).

    Garmin come on man.. I've spent a fortune on your products for me and my wife..    Here is what is broke..  I have two edge 1040,  no voice nav, that is why we bought the units..   On my enduro 3 no heart rate 1 minute alerts anymore..  All the things we use the most and bought the product for are a train wreck.. I'm super upset..

    I'm using the edge 1040 and I followed the instructions to a T and I'm still not getting navigation voice prompts..  Here is the weird thing-  I get them when connect is open on my phone and the screen is on.   If the screen goes black then the voice prompts quit working.   Does anyone know what I could try?  I'm using android..  Can't figure it out,  I don't have any battery saver options on,  and I also have no restrictions to keep the app from running in background,  I'm desperate..

    The 1040 does not support audio prompts on the device. It does not have a speaker, only a beeper. The 1050 and 850 support audio prompts on device.

    The 1040 does support audio prompts via your phone.

    Please Re read my post.   I specially said voice alerts via my phome...  i never referred to trying to hear voice prompts via the 1040.   I'm specifically talking about voice nav not working once my phone screen goes dark....  it's a known issue apparently and only garmin can fix this bug.

    I since many, including myself, are experiencing this issue, what’s the guarantee this issue won’t return in the next update, of which I’ll likely discard going forward (happy with then current setup)? 

    OR, will the next update resolve the voice prompt issue? Should we wait or go into the files and delete stuff? 

    Just wow.

    You may have missed the steps that are required to get the voice prompts back. The steps include removing old prompts folder/file on the Edge and then syncing with Garmin Express on your computer (Not with your garmin connect app on your phone!).

    The voice prompts work for me now with version 28.34, all it took is to follow steps outlined in the first pinned message.
