No more voice navigation prompts after update to 28.20

I got the update to 28.20 today. Went for a ride afterwards an followed a course. I noticed that the voice navigation prompts that usually play during navigation ("in 300m turn right") are no longer playing on the device. Instead I only get a few beeps when I'm approaching a turning point. I tried all options I could find in the Sound and Navigation menus, but was unable to get the voice prompts back. Is this a known problem? Any fixes? Thanks!

    So my device has a different problem than Hannes'. In my case, there's nothing to hear when the volume setting for voice promts is moved. Only the beep sounds work well... Any idea?

    Same problem voice prompts gone after recent update. The 1050 has been Garmins worst product ever

    Well it seems theres three diffenent problems so far:
    On hannes' device the sample voice still works. 
    My device only beeps and the Jindalee's is completely silent.
    I am in contact with the support and I recommend everyone here to do the same, only they can help I think. 
    But we can try to find the cause. 
    I had sudden disconnections when updating maps with garmin express. When i moved the device, just like a loose connection. I used fine cables, one all new original garmin and another one that never failed before. Maybe a hardware problem with the usb port, Anyone else with the same issue that might have caused the voice problem? 
    Another suspicion I have is that optional language files updates from express caused the problem.

    I have exactly the same issue - all fine until the update. All settings are set OK, but no longer any voice navigation prompts. I have just reported via the Garmin chat support. I send the required files to them and their response is that they cannot say when this will be fixed, but they are now working on it.

    I also encountered this problem. The current solution is to change the voice navigation prompt to play on the phone and use the phone to listen to it.

    I can hear it, everything else is normal, only the voice navigation upgrade disappeared

    If all the other audio messages are working I would check that TBT is still enabled. This sounds like a different issue from those getting no audio prompts.

    Navigation -> Course -> 3 Dot menu top right hand corner -> Turn Guidance (On)
