No more voice navigation prompts after update to 28.20

I got the update to 28.20 today. Went for a ride afterwards an followed a course. I noticed that the voice navigation prompts that usually play during navigation ("in 300m turn right") are no longer playing on the device. Instead I only get a few beeps when I'm approaching a turning point. I tried all options I could find in the Sound and Navigation menus, but was unable to get the voice prompts back. Is this a known problem? Any fixes? Thanks!

    New Garmin user here, still within my returns period too. Not happy at all to see how Garmin break functionality, then take so long to acknowledge issues, let alone release a fix - rather leaving it to a community user to debug!! If I hadn’t come across this forum I’d still be without full functionality.

    Garmin support - do better! I’ll see how it this one plays out as it doesn’t inspire much confidence.

    Many thanks.  Simple on Windows not so straight forward on MacOS.
    I can confirm that this has worked for me as well.

    On MacOS you would need a 3rd party tool to access the file system as MTP file support is not native to Mac. There are a lot of posts on this. There are a number of tools that will do this OpenMTP is one,

    Thanks to all for your participation in the Garmin Forums.

    Software version 28.33 is being rolled out for Edge 1050 and will be available for all users shortly. After installing the update, deleting old voice prompt files and syncing with Garmin Express will restore voice prompt functionality.

    Once the update is installed:

    1. Connect the Edge with computer
    2. Close Garmin Express
    3. Navigate to the Edge drive on the PC
    4. Select the Garmin folder, then the Prompts folder.
    5. Delete the contents of the Prompts folder
    6. Open Garmin Express
    7. Sync the device

    Syncing with Garmin Express will download a new voice prompt files to the device. MacOS users may require a 3rd party tool to access the Edge file system.

    Hello, can confirm, following the steps to update the prompts file worked just fine. I am getting audio prompts on my device speaker.

    PS: I am on a mac os x and I had to use OpenMTP app to be able to browse Garmin Device, as MTP is something that Apple OS does not support properly (I get it they do not want to promote use of Android media transfer protocol).

    PPS: I had to create new account to reply to this thread, my Garmin Connect account credentials break this site, I would appreciate if someone at Garmin IT could look into this my original account is on the same email as this one, just remove (+garminforum) from it. Thank you

    Simply that you have to use a third part app/driver to view the contents as it presents itself as an MTP device.
    I prefer accessing devices natively.

    My Edge 1050 voice prompts are still not working. I deleted the contents of the Prompts folder. I synced the device and downloaded version 28.33. I went for a ride today. NO voice prompts. The beeping tones before turns are working.  But NO voice navigation. The Prompts folder is currently empty. My Edge 1050 says it has version 28.33.

    Have you synced since installing 28.33? 28.33 added a change that downloads the audio files if they are missing.
