Trying to set up different bikes with my Edge 1050 (Shimano Di2 and SRAM Red AXS)

I am looking for help with setting up the 1050 bike computer with a couple of bikes I have. Let’s say I have a Bianchi that runs Shimano Di2 (with the wireless module) and also a Trek gravel bike with SRAM Red AXS.

So, for each bike profile on the 1050, I would like to display gearing info and shifter battery status, etc. I have both bikes’ “sensors” paired up with the Garmin. I know I can choose the various data fields I can customize for each bike profile. So when I go set up a ride profile on the 1050 for the bike with SRAM, how do I specify the data fields to display the SRAM metrics vs. the Shimano Di2 metrics or vice-versa?

When I look at all of the data field options, I go to “Category” —> “Gears”. Then I see the following options: Gears, Front Gear, Rear Gear, Gear Battery, Gear Ratio, Gear Combo, Di2 Battery Level, Di2 Shift Mode.

So, which of these are SRAM metrics and which are Shimano metrics?

Or another “simple” question. The Bianchi has a Garmin ANT+ cadence sensor (on the crank arm) and the Trek has a cadence sensor built into its SRAM power meter cranks. So, if I displayed “cadence” as one of my 1050’s data fields, how does the 1050 know which cadence signal it should try to read?

  • For your computer to pick up either sensor, they first have to be "activated". I have four bikes with power meters and three of those have Di2. Once I pedal my bike, shift, or move, a sensor will be read by your 1050.If for some reason it doesn't automatically, you can go to settings, sensors and select your correct sensor. I'd advise that you rename your sensor so that you can tell which sensor/bike it's attached to. I even rename my heartrate monitors. Nothing like being in a group ride and my 1050 shows 20 heart rate monitors and you cannot tell which one is yours. You can also set up a seperate profile for certain bikes. This will give you specific data fields without unnecessary data.

  • To further weigh in beyond what Silverback shared, your 1050 will only display data from sensors that are being actively used in the moment and are broadcasting. There is no way to select an Activity Profile or specific Data Field to show one specific sensor's data only, they will always display any applicable data they are receiving at any time.

If for some reason you are in a situation where both bikes and their groupsets are on, or "active", then you would need to manually disable the "sensor" that you don't wish to see in that moment.

  • I think I understand what you are describing.

So, if I display "Cadence" as a data field on the 1050, it will display the data from any cadence sensor that is paired with the 1050 that is also awake and sending data. Presumably, only the sensors from one bike is awake and is sending data to the 1050 at any one time.

And presumably, all of the gearing data is the same. These are generic data fields (Gears, Front Gear, Rear Gear, Gear Battery, Gear Ratio, Gear Combo) and can be fed by either the SRAM sensors or the Shimano Di2 sensors.

  • What I did was set up a profile. ie : instead of 'ride', 'race' and 'trainer', I have 'road bike', 'gravel bike', 'tt bike' etc, etc. For each bike I set the pages how I would like to read them. The only hitch is when I load a bike to a friend to ride with in which case I need to turn off the scanning of those sensors in the 1050 settings.

It is a real mess if i am on the trainer as I have 5 or 6 bikes with various sensors on them as well as different HR sensors to shut off.
