Issue with auto brightness

Hi,

After every restart the brightness gets stucked at a fix value.

I've to switch off the auto brightness button and than turn it on again.

There after the auto function works correct.

Has anybody the same Problem? (V11. 24)

  • Yes, but it only happens around 50% of the time I turn mine on.

Guess we’ll see if the new firmware fixes it.

  • I had to "fix" the auto brightness at the start of every ride.  So I turned off the "auto" feature, and set my brightness to 30%. That gives me a pretty dim display at times, but it gets brighter as sunset approaches!

  • It happens only, if you start the 1050 from sleep mode. After a new start of the device auto brightness works. I reported the bug to garmin support. I hope they will fix this very quick. The bug is not fixed with 12.16. It is unfortunate, that with new firmware, new bugs get introduced instead of getting a more reliable device. Currently, the daily suggested workout cannot be removed from homescreen, which is new to 12.16.

  • Today, I found the following:

    • Auto Brightness always works when you start the 1050 new.
    • It also works in brighter daylight (cloudy or with full sun), when you start the device from sleep mode.
    • Auto brightness does not work in darkness or lower light (i.e. at home), when you start the 1050 from sleep mode.

Now in winter, I mostly start my ride to work in darkness or low light. Or I put the 1050 onto the handlebar when I am still in the house and start the device there. Therefore until now, I had the impresssion that auto brightness does not work at all, when starting the 1050  from sleep mode. Apparently, this depends on the light conditions, where you start the 1050 in sleep mode.

    All this with firmware 12.16.
