Anyone coming to the 1050 from a 1030 plus?

I have been riding with the 1030 plus for almost three years now.  No complaints.  Computer works well, does what I ask of it, and battery life is good.

But the 1030 plus seems to be end of life.  No updates are forthcoming and the computer does drop sensors routinely.  The display is also hard to read as my eyes get older.

So.  Question. Did anyone here with a 1050 upgrade from the 1030plus?  And if so, do you think the upgrade was worth the cost?

Thank you.

  • I have used edge 530/540/830/1040, when I overtook a guy on a night climb who was using a 1050, my god the screen on his handlebars was literally glowing with enticing colors and light, looking down at my 1040 it instantly felt like the screen was grey as ***, from that point on I decided that I had to experience the 1050 for myself. 5 months later I got my hands on one! , it's really nice, the screen shows me with incredible colors and brightness, if it's you it will be faster than your 1030p positioning and the experience must be great too!!!!

  • Good feedback folks.  Thanks for sharing.

No doubt the screen is spectacular.  That is a major draw to me about switching over from the 1030plus.  That and fact that the 1030plus seems to be end of life.  If Garmin was still pushing out updates, that would be one thing.  But the fact Garmin has not addresses the dropping sensor connections is bothersome.

For me, and the reason I started this thread, is I was having an internal debate about shelling out the cost for a new bike computer when my existing computer still works and does pretty much all that I wanted it to do.  Aside from the brighter screen and dropped connections - obviously.  I guess I just need to put on my big boy pants and make a decision.

I am sure if I do pull the trigger on the 1050 I will be happy.  It is just a lot of cake to spend.
