Backlight Timeout first touch should reignite backlight?

While out riding in bright sunlight with sunglasses, you can only just make out the screen once the backlight has timed out

I think it would be helpful if the first touch of the screen, after the backlight is timed out, does NOT bring up the home menu, as it usually does, but just reignites the backlight.

I’ve submitted this to Garmin suggestions. Just floating the idea here for others’ thoughts?

  • I've used the remote to enable the backlight on my Edge 530, now on 9.75 firmware, via the programmable action key. But after not using my Edge for some months, it no longer works in my case. I confirmed that it's set to backlight in the Edge settings and nothing happens. The long-press setting to map does work, however. I'm getting the same issue with my 1040, though I can tap the screen to enable backlight so it's not as big an issue.

  • Resolved! I removed the remote from the Edge settings entirely, then paired again, and it now works as intended — I can set the action button to backlight.
