First ride witth the new 1050.

TouchScreen totaly freezes for complete ride. Even when powered of and on several times.

No reaction or whatever  with gloves off.

Taken of the mount in home everything seems te be allright temperature outside was 4 degrees above freezing point

Didnt have this with the 1040 solar, 1030 and the older models.

What tofdo now?

  • quick question so how'd u do a hard reset? TBH, sure wish that day wouldn't come when i must do such move. So far so good from here.... Fingers crossed tone2

  • Press and hold the left hand button until the Garmin turns off and release when you see the Garmin logo

    • Hi I have a screen freeze issue appears to be a recent introduction but not sure when currently on V 13.14. Intermittently does not respond to acknowledgment to pot holes responses etc. Tick box greys out but then freezes. Occasionally if I swipe to change screen there is no response as if the unit is busy. If I wait a while it comes back to life. It has absolutely nothing to do with temperature or wet.
  • Hi All,

I faced the same case recently, and here's my experience.

What did I do BEFORE that?

    - I Importeted downloaded from Komoot track (gpx) as distance into garmin.coonect

    - I sent it to 1050 in WIRELESS mode

    - Everything looked well and I started cycling

    - Screen froze after 5-7 min using it, I resrarted it , continued work out  - but nothing has changed. ( Restart - 5 min using - Frozen screen - Repeat).

    What I did next:

    - Hard reset 1050 + Defaul mode

    - I sent the same track to 1050 in WIRED mode

    No frozen screen anymore.

  • The seizure of my 1050 occurs when I am in Battery Save Mode, stop and then start moving again.  The device seizes on the screen with the green arrow.  I have to reboot the device to unfreeze to screen.  As a work around, if you stop and disable the battery saver before you start riding, the screen will not freeze; you can enable the saver once you get rolling.  The freeze occurs when you stop then start moving again with the battery saver enabled.  Every now and then you will get lucky and it will work fine, but for the most part the screen will freeze.  Data will record in the background, but you will not be able to view it.  All of this started when they sent a firmware update in April.  I have been working with the Support team, but I am getting the "blow-off."

  • Hello  and thanks for your feedback.
You have been in touch with Garmin Support regarding a few different performance concerns, namely your Edge 1050 and GPS data, specifically after re-starting the Edge mid-ride while an activity is in progress.
We encourage you to stay in touch with our Support teams to provide additional info about your experience and these concerns.
    ----
This thread was initially concerning touch screen performance, especially in cold weather. Garmin has collected many details regarding touch screen performance and an investigation is ongoing.

As this thread is now describing many concerns with freezes, reboots, or otherwise unexpected behavior that is not related to touch screen performance, we are locking this thread until we can provide a more specific resolution.

We will continue to investigate and encourage users to connect with Garmin support directly or post specific examples about errors they experience.
