Touchscreen freezes 1050

First ride witth the new 1050.

TouchScreen totaly freezes for complete ride. Even when powered of and on several times.

No reaction or whatever with gloves off.

Taken of the mount in home everything seems te be allright temperature outside was 4 degrees above freezing point

Didnt have this with the 1040 solar, 1030 and the older models.

What tofdo now?

Also here to report this issue.

Went for a casual night ride in Rotterdam with around 2 to 3 degrees C.

At first the unit was working fine with maap apex deep winter gloves (which work with all my capacitive screens), bit after a couple of minutes it stopped responding to touch input with gloves.

It did still respond without gloves however.

At the final.... 1.5 km it started responding again to the gloves.

I’ve got the same problem with my edge 1050.

Went on a ride in the south of the Netherlands last Friday. Temperature 3-4 degrees for the whole ride.

It was impossible to use the touchscreen. Tried with and without gloves, but didn’t make any difference. Sometimes after a lot of swiping/touching the screen changes, but most of the time nothing happens. Sometimes the bell-screen shows up.

Very annoying you can’t switch screens, especially because the touchscreen is the only way and there is no physical button to do this.

I hope Garmin finds a solution, because it’s unacceptable for a €700 device.

Just an idea. Is everyone reporting this issue also using a silicone bumper case?

Yep, official Garmin one.
With a savies screen protector, the gel like flexible one.

Using one too... Very good point here ! I'll try without one the next time out if the temperature stays low...

For the time being I've got around the issue with SRAM blips allocated to switch screen and ring the bell functions.
