Paused Ride Loss of Data

I'm using my 1050 (FW 9.11) to record two rides with my family that involved an intermediate stop for coffee one time and a quick meal the other.  With the 1040 I would stop the ride and power it off. At the conclusion of the break, I would power it back on and start the ride and it would pick off where I left off.  At the conclusion all the data would be there.

I did the same thing with my 1050 but it loses the first half of the ride data with the exception of elapsed time and total distance.  The map shows me starting at the point I resumed the ride, and all ride data - power, HR, cadence, etc., prior to the restart of the 1050 is lost.  The upload to Strava was only the second half of the rides.

Has anyone else experienced this or is this an error on my part?

  • Hi Clayton. I consent, happy to help.

  • Depending on the nature of your crash you may have been given many different troubleshooting suggestions. If you can begin a new thread with specific information about crashes you've experienced we'd be happy to review.

  • Hi Clayton, I appreciate your message. The crash issue seems it's fixed for now, at least it's been almost 10 rides and it's not happening anymore. However, if you can look at my other issue, see my post from some weeks ago at the following link. I would really appreciate if you can help or review that, or push someone from Garmin to look at it. I am using last generation devices such as Edge 1050 and Fenix 8, and this is really disapointing and a bit annoying:

I have been facing this problem for more than one year now, and there's no way to fix it. It's happening to other people too, and I am sure many others that they didn't even notice. I tried everything possible up to this point, tips and ideas from Garmin Support spain, but there's no way to get rid of it. Problem keeps happening let's say every 2 or 3 times from 8 rides I would say. My Edge 1050 is set as a primary device, I leave my Fenix 8 at home in airplane mode, but even doing so, some data is not syncing well from the Edge 1050 to the Garmin Connect. It's a bit frustrating, as it really looks a very minor bug, but no one from Garmin came up with a solution. Many thanks in advance

  • Good evening, I am not currently pleased with the 1050, was looking forward to using it as my 1st  computor and this issue is not good, also on the Beta progamme. I went to watch the Cape Epic Prologue this morning using my Edge 1050 it firstly did not register distance,(last ride same so was told tu see if updated which I ghen did and came back to working), except again today, then I got to venue and did not pause or switch off computor, when we left it started recording and even had the distance back on, when synced with Strava only return data shown!!Thank you

  • Hi thanks for reaching out.
Could I send you an email (no need to post that here) and reach out to gather a few more details about your experience?

We are tracking an error where some activities will only display partial map data despite recording accurate distance data.
It sounds like you could be describing a different error, for the fastest support please reach out to your regional support team: https://support.garmin.com/

  • Hey Clayton, did you have the chance to check on my issue regarding bad sync performance? Thx in advance !

  • Just happened this to me today

  • I have the same problem. Happened to me when paused Edge 1050. I lost the data before pausing.

  • Hello , do I have your consent to email you externally?
