Temperature Reading Inaccurate

Same problem here. When I compare 1050 temperature reading with calibrated thermometer, it's about 5.5C too high at low temps - eg it was 6C in my garage this morning, and after sitting there for half an hour, the 1050 temperature field was indicating 11.5C. That's so inaccurate as to be completely useless - I can make a much better estimate of the temperature myself.

Disappointing to hear. 

On my 1030 Plus, having WiFi active increased the heat of the device. Disabling it brought temps near to ambient. Maybe the same on the 1050??

Disabling WiFi has not addressed the issue. The temperature is still inaccurate by about 3°C on average. 

No, I have WiFi disabled on the 1050, so that doesn't have any bearing on the inaccuracy of the temperature sensor.

Most likely, as in other Edges, the temperature reading is a 'bonus' and just reads the temperature of the pressure sensor, as that sensor needs the temperature of the sensor to compensate for it. Garmin never put any effort in installing a $1 temperature sensor in a place that is not affected by dissipation of heat from the electronics. So basically you get almost nothing for free.

Then Garmin should list on the box, Bonus inaccurate temperature sensor with every Edge 1050.

Exactly.  If you want more accurate temperature, Garmin will happily sell you a Tempe Sensor.

The Connect IQ app Mapfield, and its two clones, allow you to set one of the data fields displayed to temperature and apply an offset. I've done this and now have a temperature reading there which is pretty accurate. https://apps.garmin.com/apps/30fdcbb5-a0f2-4832-9157-b7dcd81e7a0f

That’s a shame that turning off WiFi has no seeming effect on the 1050. It is noticeable on my 1030 Plus. 

I’ve just been for a ride with my 1030 Plus and the average temp matches the local weather stations in the area.
