Crashing whilst saving activity, and duplicate activities.

I've had my 1050 for a few days, and it's been mostly fine (my enduro 2 watch icon in connect on android has changed to a 1050, sensors sometimes don't automatically connect etc.).

However I've got a serious problem when it comes to saving an activity. My 1050 will 9/10 times reboot itself after the self evaluation page. After it's started up again, I'm given the chance to save the activity again, however again, 9/10 times it will reboot itself. Usually after the 3rd or 4th time, it does actually save, but it is hugely annoying, and always seems to leave two copies of the activity on my feed. One has all my stats and map etc. The other does not.

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue, and if it's worth me resetting the device and starting again?

Not sure if this had anything to do with the problem, but if I go to add device in the android connect app, the 1050 shows up,but it's already in my account under devices.

  • Mine likes to crash when calculating a route or while generating a course.

  • Replying as a "me too", crashed immediately acknowledging the activity summary screen. Brand new Edge 1050, fully up to date, only my second ride with the new unit, so I can't say how frequent it is.

  • My 1050 works flawlessly (meaning no crashes) since firmware 12.16 including saving activities. I installed 12.16 immediately, when it  was released. If your 1050 is brand new, try to return it and get another one. Your 1050 might have a hardware issue. Alternatively, try toto contact Garmin support. At least in Germany, they react quickly. I have found several non critical bugs already and have sent log ffiles and the Garmin folder to support using their upload service. This is probably the only way, they can identify the cause for the problems, which do not occur on every device with every user.

In one bug case, I got very quickly a replacement unit, however, it showed the same error.

Since I do not have critical errors right now, I am very happy with my 1050. I runs more stable and quicker than my 1040, and the much better display of the 1050 is worth the patience, we need to have unfortunately.
