Who already has the E1050 and what are the impressions?

Users of the new E1050, share your impressions - is the new Edge a big qualitative leap compared to the previous E1040 model and is it worth investing a few hundred on new hardware after changes to the firmware (23/09Beta) and adding a few functionalities?

With the features being added to the 1040 I think the main benefits of the 1050 are the BELL (if you commute) and the crisp screen contrast and resolution. It will be nice not having to strap a bell onto…

My LBS had a 1050 in stock so i bought it and took it out for a quick spin tonight. Quick review after only 28 quick miles over my Edge 1040 Solar. The screen is the biggest selling point!!!!

Thanks for the insightful feedback. Yes, I agree the increased screen brightness, contrast, color vibrancy, and higher resolution is the main reason for me to upgrade from a 1030 Plus. I have trouble seeing…

Sarebbe molto utile sapere se sono state migliorate le dimensioni della traccia e se il colore risulta più vivo, non smorto come nel 1040.

I have just received mine. Following observations. 1. The screen is where the magic happens. It is just so much clearer and brighter. 2. The response time of the screen is leaps ahead so the processor must be a lot better. 3. The bell is cool. The voice commands are nice. If any of those are important to you then the upgrade is worth it. For the rest all the other features are now available on the 1040 beta software.

Could also try shining a light on the display just to see if it dimmed out. GPLama ran into this.

Can someone post a screenshot of the map screen showing the rider position symbol and virtual partner, there was a post in 1040 saying the user position was as big, maybe bigger than VP symbol which is something I would very much like as my mature eyesight has trouble actually seeing my position these days. If actually bigger hopefully it will come to 1040 too., thanks

The UI being snappier than the Edge 1040 is good news but I’m even more interested to know if handling the map (panning, zooming) is also a better experience. I couldn’t find any review that comments on this aspect specifically.

I took a picture of 1050 from internet and compared it to a screenshot of my 1040. It seems indeed, that the vehicle cursor is bigger now!

Thanks, I will keep hoping, re "pictures" on or sourced from Garmin , many for x40 have been "fake" / mockups / marketing and not reflecting what the actual software is like, but as I said, hoping and hoping it comes to 1040

The position arrow is definitely larger.
I noticed this in the video by desfit.
You can see it from minute 10:56.

The route chevrons are normal
