Try a hard reset. Hold the power button for 30 seconds
I did try that on Saturday and unfortunately did not make a difference.
I also tried plugging into a computer without any luck. Left the device plugged in for 2 hours and no sign of life.
cdkarp Please press and hold the power button for 60 seconds while connected to power through a charging cable. If this does not work, please reach out to your local support team for assistance since this may not be something we can resolve through the Forums.
I had this exact same thing happen to my Edge 1040 just end of last week. Would not power on and also not detect any charging.
Solution for me: Press power on and lower left button at the same time until the Garmin bootscreen apears again.
