Garmin stuck in boot loop after v27.13 update

After a ride today, device prompted me to update. I let it, and after a while it started rebooting over and over again. I'm having trouble getting a factory reset or a connection to the computer to work. Please help

  • Same here. When I power on my device Edge 1040 Solar, it tries booting: stuck ion the screen with "Loading courses, workouts and locations..." for a while and then restarts. It does so over and over again.
I'm not able to factory reset nor to connect to Garmin Express on my Mac or PC (actually, they don't even see the Edge internal storage when connected).
Please help me, I'm in trouble

  • Same experience. After a few factory reset attempts, all it does is boot to GARMIN screen, shows the battery life remaining and version, goes to blank screen, and reboots again.

  • Did you try:

Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.

    • Turn device off
    • Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
    • Press and release the power button
    • Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
    • Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
    • The unit will restart and clear non-vol
  • Just tried: it didn't work...
    thanks

  • II resolved my specific case as follows:
    1) forced the USB/MTP mode by holding the LAP button while connecting to my laptop and releasing the button only when the USB MTP mode was activated (about 30"-40")
    2) Opening Garmin Express and removing all the maps except the central Europe one (Select the Device > Manage Maps > deselect all but the he central Europe one > Apply Changes)

Then I was able to successfully reboot my device. I found it reset to factory (most likely because I also had tried to reset it...)

    Hope this can help

  • While ive been able to enter MTP mode, I haven’t been able to get my MacOs to detect the device in that mode. I’ll try playing with the order of operations, cables, etc.
