Garmin Coach workouts often do not sync

I very often have the issue that garmin connect workouts between web connect / phone (Android) / fenix 7s and my edge 1040 are not in sync. The edge 1040 workout then shows old information. The other devices are in sync in this case. The only workaround is removing the edge 1040 from my phone, and reconnecting it. The initial sync then corrects this issue. Any other workaround I have tried (syncing via computer / restarting edge) do not work. Is Garmin aware of this issue and will it be fixed? It is *very* annoying that I have to do this once or twice a week by now.

    I'm not solving your issue but I experience the same. As you, I have a 1040, a Fenix 7 pro and the G connect app (android). All are up to date with the latest stable release software.

    I have set the 1040 as primary training device and the watch is set as a wearable. The watch will update garmin coach suggested workout every morning taking in account my sleep. Unfortunatly the sync with the app (and so with the 1040) is not working. The app keeps showing me the "not updated" workout wich is a p in the a.

    Garmin, it's nice to try to make more money (connect + or whatever it's called) but if you don't solve issues of your existing customers, they'll never susbcribe to something when the basics don't work. I've spend roughly $ 2k on devices and what you advertise (garmin coach) isn't working. Solve the issue please !!!!!!

    Might start looking at what competitors offer for the next devices as Garmin cannot hold their word.

    I reply to you as you are the last poster.

    It seems that's it's better for me since a week. Today, I have all workouts on the 3 devices (android app, fenix 7 pro and edge 1040) identical. As Garmin is silent, it's hard to say if it's just luck or that Garmin did improve the sync between devices. 

    What changed on my side is my commitment to do the workouts. It seems that if you stop doing them it gets messier between the devices, like if the 1040 couldn't take the info of the watch when not training. I'll update this topic again when I won't be able to do the workout later in the week.

  • Hmm. What's weird is that I had done a couple of workouts on a plan on my 540, but now it doesn't even see that I have a plan active. If I dig into the calendar it shows the daily suggested workouts. The only way I get the training I want is to push it from Connect to the device, dig through the menu to Workouts, and Run it from there. Very frustrating. I've tried wiping the device and reconnecting with no success

  • I've noticed one thing this morning. I've synchronized my FR965 and at the same time Edge synchronization was good ! I think so, workout are generated once time a day.

    Usually i do 99% of the suggested workouts, so I don't think thats the problem (maybe its a part or the problem, though).

    The only workaround that works for me at the moment:

    1. sync edge with connect-app

    2. pause the cycling coach in the connect-app

    3. sync edge with connect-app -> its should say "no coach plan"

    4. continue the garmin coach plan in connect-app and wait until it shows the workouts in the app

    5. sync the edge

    -> now it should show the correct coach-plan

    For me, it looks like the edge dont get the correct cycling-coach-plan from the app. Like it dont sync at all, so the edge build up a "own" plan for itself.

    Im very frustrated at the moment, because I'm in the middle of a training for a big event. The thing is, the edge is a ralatively expensive device and such thing should work. I mean, the cycling-coach is THE unique selling point in my eyes...

    I hope so bad, that it gets fixed soon...
