Max Heart Rate Looks to be Incorrect

I have the 1040 and I had the Fenix 6x Pro Solar Edition until a few days ago.  The devices, the app, and the web would report different max HR.  So I sold the Fenix to ensure the Fenix was not causing the problem.

I worked out and a new Max HR and Lactate Threshold were detected to be 170 and 158 respectively.

My workout zones are set to be % of Lactate Threshold.

I did an indoor ride this evening and  Do these heart rate zones look correct?  If my max HR  is 170, how is Zone 3 set to 163bpm - 171bpm if my max HR is 170?

I can't seem to get Garmin devices to cooperate.

  • You choose LTHR as calculation method - this is based on Lactade Threshold. Just user other method ;)

  • I would rather use %LTHR since Garmin recommends using it instead of % Max HR.  I did another workout and the device detects yet another max hr and a new lactate threshold. So now both increased by 2, 172 for max hr and 162 for lactate threshold..

The zones are totally off so I hit the reset button.  Maybe the Fenix 6 messed up the zones and the Edge could never recover.  The reset zones actually look better.  However, I am in zone 3 almost as soon as I start pedaling my bike on workouts.  Maybe the device will eventually catch up to my real fitness level???
