I have the same issue.
My Garmin Connect has switched to Chinese, but only when in the device on Connect. The device its self is in English, and Connect is in English until I go to devices in Connect and select the Edge 1040. When the device opens in Connect it is in Chinese. I used my wife's phone to guide me to the languages setting for my device underneath the Chinese character for language it says "English". I then click "language" and when it opens the list English is already selected.

I have the same issue.
same- all garmin devices dropped out of connect, watch, scale and 1040 - had to resync them all- and the edge is now in some mandarin or something on the connect app - WTH GARMIN!!!

I contacted them weeks ago they have not solved the issue or shared any work around its very disappointing considering how much the 1040 solar costs

Yes I got a case. Number on 8th December but no solution to the issue has been provided, I tried all the work arounds on the forum but none have worked on my device
