Firmware 24.18/24.19 Edge 1040 Solar - Wrong Pause Times

I'm having some very strange (obviously erroneous) situation with pauses: Did a ~ 30min pause that is reported as <2 min pause... my research shows: the beginning of a first pause during a training session is at the correct time, but the ending is wrong (too early). All the following events, measuring points etc. are then based on the wrong pause ending timestamp. All subsequent pauses are then also of course starting at a wrong time offsetting according to earlier pause(s) accumulating wrong times... as a result all trainings including pauses are faulty timewise... This needs urgent fixing as it impacts total times etc...

NB: When I speak of "pauses" I mean manually paused trainings. The autopause feature is turned of on my device.

______

Edit:

I can confirm this error for 24.19 as well - changed title accordingly

  • Yes, this is a bug that's been reported in the beta forums; it was introduced a few beta releases back. I'm actually pretty amazed that they released 24.18, given that it hadn't been fixed.

  • Whoah... really?! Thanks for sharing this. I thought I couldn't trust my very own findings because this sounds so ridiculous...

  • One thing I should have added (although previously it was just a hypothesis - I've tested and confirmed it today). If you don't sleep / turn off the device during pauses, it records elapsed time correctly. I assume the approximately two minutes it shows for a pause that's actually much longer is the bit during which it's still "awake". It's bizarre, but it basically regards time as having stopped as soon as you put it into sleep mode (or, I assume, turn it off, though I haven't tested that).

Obviously, it's irritating to have to do this, and it's inefficient in terms of battery use (though that's a minimal issue with the 1040), but it does work.

  • It's even more bizarre: From a second thread (where I placed this topic as well before becoming aware that an own thread would be preferable) I learned that the problem DOES NOT OCCUR when you completely shutdown the Edge 1040 Solar and cold start it to resume training. In that case times are perfectly correct for pause end and subsequent events... Tried that today and can confirm. Scratching my head... but at least there's a battery-friendly bypass.

NB: Livetrack is continued as well after cold start

  • Wow! That's incredible. Thanks for the tip - I'll try it tomorrow!

  • did you fix your activity? I'm still looking for a solution for a 24 h activity Dizzy faceDizzy

  • I didn't fix the FIT-file yet... my preferred tool for manipulation of FIT-files is https://www.fitfilerepairtool.info/ - it's not expensive but offers a lot of functionality...
