will edge 1050 eclipse the stability work of the 1040?

Hi,

Should we be worried about the future release of the edge 1050?
Won't this latest edge reduce the work of updating the 1040 which are already too few in number for a unit which is still not stable?
Garmin wouldn't you rework your failed 1040 for the beta testers like us?...

  • To me it feels like I'm participating in the beta-program running on what Garmin calls "production". Beta is more Alfa to me. Garmin has always made good hardware, but there are many bugs with Garmin - the introduce new one, and old ones resurface from time to time.

  • my 1040 still has ways to go to reach the routing quality of my edge 1000.
now the grade % is not so useless, at least, responds faster (albeit a bit noisy even of 0.0% flat).

  • It looks like main thing is a super bright display that kills battery longevity (but if set very dim it lasts as long as the 1040).

almost forgot - it has a bike bell, too  - let me run to get one just for that!

seriously, it seems the same platform and releases should be for both always - just like the beta 23.09 added hazards, new grade calc, shared groups. etc.

I'd rather they fix basic functionality first (like the subpar routing) before adding (LITERALLY) bells and whistles.

  • Don't give them any ideas about adding a whistle ;-) !

  • The Edge 1050 is highly unstable right now.  I'd stay on the 1040 for the next 12-18 months until Garmin fixes the multitude of issues.  This is the first time I've kept my old head unit after upgrading because the new one is so bad.
