Software 21.16 - What about the issues (bugs?)

New version 21.16 is out but there were still a lot of issues reported in the betas that have not been addressed. A lot of drop-out issues (of course), a lot of crash / re-boot during / at start / end of activities, a lot of map issues....did the beta testers over the last 6 weeks imagine these, what were they smoking, are the issues "changes "as designed" or bugs ignored.

Have to say the beta process has become very unsatisfactory (for me at least) and lots of missed opportunities for better communication and a lot of wasted effort from many knowledgable users keen to see improvements. Not so much 21.x (because very little new) but in previous betas I have foolishly wasted dozens of hours.

Thanks

PS Sorry to whine here but the beta discussion sections have already been locked & closed , so have to continue here.

  • 21.17 beta dropped today. No screen recording.... And the beta forum still locked as there's 'no current beta'.. so I can't post anything over there on it.

C'mon team Garmin. Please strive for a little more excellence.

  • My SRAM power Meter is not working after this update .. no SRAM shifts .. even the timer is wrong.  What a disaster.

  • 21.17 changelog doesn’t seem to address any of the issues reported since 21.16?

  • well i'm happy to report that moving time was recorded and reported properly on today's ride. no issues so i guess it was just a weird one-off issue

  • I've had 3 bugs so far on my 1040 Solar since the 21.16 update.

I was on a ride and decided it was time to head home. Went into Navigation and picked my house as a saved place. Navigation started and then the unit rebooted. I didn't lose my ride data from the pre-reboot, but I could not continue the ride recording. All I could do was save it and start a new one. Once I had a new ride going, I was able to start the navigation to home without issues.

I had turned the unit on while getting ready to ride then realized I was early, so I hit the power button and chose sleep. Later when I wanted to turn the unit back on, I couldn't. It didn't matter how long I held down the power button, it was not turning on. I even tried other buttons thinking I head read the manual wrong. I finally hooked up the charging cable and charger to the unit and it started right up. Apparently "Sleep" means "Coma".

It lost connection to my Varia post update. I had to remove the Varia and re-connect it. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Is this sort of thing typical with Garmin units? I was on a Wahoo for 7 years and I can count on one hand the number of times that thing ever gave me trouble. I'm up to 3 already and I'm one week until owning this unit.
