Best practice on syncing Edge1040 over iPhone!? Please advise!

Hi,

this is an issue, that bugs me for years. After a ride I would like to SIMPLY sync my ride with my iPhone 14 pro max and the most recent GarminConnect App on my iPhone so it uploads the activity to Garmin connect. That's all.

Most of the time it does not work seemless. Sometimes it works after 20 minutes of syncing, sometimes it does not sync at all. Sometimes I do have to manually sync it by pressing the sync button in garmin connect.

I just wonder if there is a straight forward way or remedy to do the sync.

I know that I am not alone with this issue, since lots of my ride buddies have the same issue for years with various Garmin devices and mobile phones.

WHAT IS SO DIFFICULTY ON ARANGING A STRAIGHT PUSH OF THE WORKOUT TO THE CLOUD?

I do have the most success with the following:

• stop activty .- not save it.

• switch off iPhone and reboot

• switch off WIFI on iPhone

• start Garmin connect on iphone

• save activity

• wait for a long time - go shower or open a refreshing beverage

40% of the time success of upload

I can't believe that is still the way to sync in 2024…

… rant over… I go cycling now

  • Thanks for the tip. Maximise compatibility is already selected - I'll try your suggested approach next time and see if this helps.

Out of interest, from your experience, did you see any difference in synching over bluetooth with shorter or longer rides?

  • Works fine on my 13 Pro max every time as long as the Bluetooth connection is alive to the device. There must be a bug in Garmin Connect about that, so I sometimes toggle Bluetooth on/off on my phone and everything is ok even if every other device I have don’t experience any problem like earbuds, car etc. I seldom experience this with Edge, more frequently with my Epix2. It also looks like if the phone loose it’s connection to the cell network, during a ride, the Bluetooth problem is more likely to appear - so maybe livetracks has something to do with, as that then drops.
