Battery drain when device is switched off

Is anyone getting this with their device? I only really noticed recently because I had a month off due to covid so literally didn't touch the device and I went to use it and it was totally dead. It was on about 70-80% when I last turned it off. I had a sneaking suspicion this might have been happenign before but I was using it quite often so thought I might have just been tripping that it had dropped a little bit.

However on testing I got the thing to 100% and then turned it off (power button, then clicking the red off button). From Sunday 28th Jan to Thursday 1st Feb it has dropped 11% just sitting there doing nothing.....

I have emailed Garmin support about it but just wondering if anyone else has had this? possibly my device is just faulty I guess? it's def not in sleep mode before someone says that.

yes, happened to me. I did my first ride on 1/30/2024 since November, and noticed the battery was low. I plugged it in on the evening of 1/30 and went for a ride today and it was dead.

Thankfully I had an 830 that I use as a spare, which I last used 6 months ago and it still held a 60% charge!

It happened to me 3-4 times in the last year, very annoying. It always happens in "sleep" mode, so the "workaround" is to do a shutdown of the unit instead. But still a big annoyance.

That’s not a ‘workaround’. The original poster stated that he turned the unit off, not put it to sleep.

Might also be a ConnectIQ datafield or widget that is polling the device even when in sleep.

Hi. I have similar issue with the sleep mode after the latest firmware update. I'm sure that everything was fine on 19.19. Now I'm checking how it looks like with the turning off the device.

19.22 but i'm pretty sure it was doing this on previous firmware versions as well.

I don't have any connectIQ stuff on the device and it's not in sleep mode, its OFF as stated.

I am shutting down the device. I can understand in sleep mode it might still be trying to connect to something but to me off should mean OFF.

Just an update to this. I have contacted garmin and they asked me to disable all my sensors to see if that does anything. It did not. In 24 hours it still lost 4% battery whilst apparently OFF.....
