Error message When I connect to BaseCamp

Hello,

When I connect Garmin Edge 1040 to Base Camp, an error message is received.

In Base Camp I don't see tracks with names(Internal Storage) that are in Garmin Edge I only see the User Data.

What am I supposed to do.

  • Hello
since the firmware update to 19.19, a communication error is displayed when working with BaseCamp with a 1040 connected. Reading the files from the 1040 takes forever. The good news is that you can still continue working. However, you have to take into account that a tour created with BaseCamp with the name Tour.gpx is written to the device directory \Garmin\GPX. If you move this file to the \Garmin\NewFiles directory (do not rename it), it will be recognized by the 1040, converted into a -FIT file and will be available under Navigation - Routes after the restart.

  • Hello

I would appreciate it if you could explain the process simply.
As a first step, I would like to know how to insert a GPX file into the Edge 1040 and turn it into a Course for navigation without using Base Camp.

  • 1. Connect the 1040 to the computer via USB

    2. Copy the GPX file to the \Garmin\NewFiles folder

    3. Disconnect the USB connection (safely)

    4. 1040 starts

    5. The tour can be found under Navigation > Routes

If you have any further questions, please post

  • Great!

While I was waiting for your reply I found another way.

    1. Sending the GPX file from the computer to the cell phone using WhatsApp or email.
    2. Opening the file on the cell phone and selecting GarminConnect.
    3. (a few steps)…….. Transferring the file to 1040 using Bluetooth.
  • that is completely correct and you have the advantage that the route is also saved on GarminConnect, which is not the case with the procedure I described

"many roads lead to Rome" or "there's more than one way to skin a cat"
