Version 19.19 has broken the backlight auto-intenisty control

Update: 19.22 released, the issue is still present..sigh...

Update: 19.21 released, the issue is still present (thought it seems the "goes compleetly dark" timeout is longer).

Ever seince my Edge 1040 Solar has been updated to 19.19, the lowest "auto" backlight setting is "too low" as it completely shuts off the screen's backlight, rendering it useless.

The issue is not with the sensor as it does turn the backlight on if I flash my healight onto the screen and we do see the intensity auto-adjust depending on brightness of light source (drop-down menu, you see the intensity setting increase/decrease).

I most definitely did not have this issue with the previous release, this only started with the 19.19 and has been going on for multiple rides. The unit is powered off every time I start a ride (given the sensor detection issue has yet to be resolved......)

I can confirm the reported behavior. And it started with the beta version where this auto-intensity settings was changed.

It continues to be the same with official release 19.19

P>S> until this version, since I bought the device, for me it did not work properly anyway

- you set it to auto -> it works

- you manually change it to 50% -> it works

- you trigger ON/OFF auto and it does not return to the previously manual setting.

Auto brightness is broken for me too with the latest update

well, with beta version 19.21, the previous wrong behavior is back for me: no matter how I set the manual brightness -> when I toogle auto ON nd then OFF the previous manual setting does not restore. It remains on the auto level.

Since the Edge 1040 has a transflective screen - shouldn't it be the other way around?
The more light falls on the screen, the less backlight / the darker the surroundings, the more backlight...

But does it at least stay dimly "on" while in the dark or does it still completely shut off?

Don't ask me, I didn't write the firmware :D ... I feel like the transflective part works with sunlight, artifical light, like my bike lamp, dosen't make the screen particularly readable.

I‘ve made some tests during indoor training and you‘re right: with Auto brightness in the dark, the display gets brighter when my flashlight shines on it.
